Sootstar was Sootclaw then, when he spoke that word. And the words the medicine cat had spoken were rambling through his brain, and he could not figure them out.
"Your mate," The medicine cat repeated slowly, trying with effort to sooth Sootclaw with her calm voice. "She passed on to StarClan. And so did your kit, Sootclaw. I'm so sorry." The she-cat approached Sootclaw, trying to give him a comforting lick on the cheek.
But Sootclaw was too outraged to be approached. "It was all your fault!" He hissed, his claws scoring into the soft dirt below him. "You didn't save her in time!" Then, without having any control over this, Sootclaw fell to the ground, dampened thickly with sorrow.

Sootstar has beautiful black fur, it's soft and silky, about two inches long. His tail is quite large too, fluffy and long, like a fox tail. His head is semi-heart shaped, and at his muzzle it dints to a complete rounded point. His ears have tufts of fur sprouting out of them, as usual long-haired cats do. His paws are very large for his size, but he manages to get through the day without tripping over everything. In fact, he's quite graceful. About seventy eight percent, but that's well for a cat with his feet. Sootstar's nose dints then comes out when the nostrils appear, and his nose is full black and dashed with moisture. His whiskers are long and gray, very normal for a black cat. Sootstar has something odd as well; there's a pure white dot on his front right paw. Other than that, you could describe Sootstar as handsome.

Sootstar is very sensitive, but firm and understanding. He is a great leader, but can be judgmental at times. You can get on his nerves easily, and when you do, he coldly shoves you off and walks away. He's very intelligent and thinks logically (only when he thinks about thinking logically) about things, at times. Sootstar is very fair, except to trespassers and outsiders. He believes that they have no explanation, and therefore should be punished. He goes by his heart, not by other's.

Becoming leader was definetly my greatest pride. I will never forget the burning painful sensation of becoming this position, but it was worth it, because now I am the leader of ThunderClan.

The death of Whiteheart and my female kit was the worst. I recall she died when giving birth to our little sweet heart, who died only a few heartbeats after she did.

Kithood
Sootkit was born on the near first days of Newleaf. His parents were delighted at their huge handsome long-haired black kit. Only a few moons after being born, Sootkit was all over the place, leading the other nursery kits around by their tails, and finding new places they thought were hidden. Did I mention sneaking out of camp was popular?
Apprenticeship
It was a proud moment when Sootkit passed onto the ranks of an apprentice by the name of Sootpaw. He remembers: the sky was bright blue, beautiful fluffy white clouds dotted the blue wonder. The sun was bright and it seemed to smile at dear Sootpaw. He remembered the look on Redstar's face, the look of a leader being proud of a new apprentice of her clan becoming one. Sootpaw was assigned to a tom named Birchtail.
Blackflower passed away only a few moons before Sootpaw was about to become a warrior. She died of greencough in leaf-bare, and Sootpaw has always dreaded sickness since.
Warrior to Leader
Sootpaw became a warrior that faithful rainy day, when he took on the name of Sootclaw he swore that he would be the best warrior, or at least one of the best. That night as he watched over the camp, he stood beside a fellow warrior named Whiteheart. When the lookout was over, Sootclaw just knew he had to be friends with the she-cat. They introduced themselves, then they started to have a liking for eachother. They hunted together, playfighted like kits together, ate together, and slept together. Soon, Sootclaw heard that Whiteheart was pregnant with his kit. He dashed to the camp, dropping any prey that he had and dashing to the medicine cat's den with the warrior who had told him followng slowly behind him.
Soon, a few moons after he heard, Sootclaw was announced an apprentice named Littlepaw. Sootclaw loved Littlepaw like a son, and trained him while pouring his whole heart into it. Only a few days later did Whiteheard die when giving birth to their daughter, and a few seconds after their child died as well. Sootclaw tried to keep himself busy with his apprentice, but she died of greencough only three moons later. He was forever depressed, refusing to respond to anyone, and keeping shut down.
But then, suddenly, Redstar passed away and assigned Sootclaw's best friend Harestar as the leader. Harestar picked Sootclaw, knowing the tom would need something to do. Sootclaw soon got painfully over the fact about his mate and his child, and then a few seasons had passed, and Harestar had gone away, giving up on the life of a leader. Sootclaw doesn't know his friend's whereabouts, or even if the tom is still alive. And with pride, Sootclaw took the title of Sootstar, and then, here we are today.
